@kitten @4censord it's probably PHP just like pixelfed?

In PHP circles mysql is still kind of the default and only database people use..

@4censord @kitten It does unless you decide to use MySQL specific features in your code outside of the ORM.

@SuperDicq @4censord @kitten I only know one MySQL feature that psql does not have,online defined enums.

And I really liked those.
Psql enums are not that hard either, but not as easy as the mswl counter part.

If that's the psql incompatibility, you can fix that easily

@kura @4censord @kitten I haven't checked the code. It could be littered with MySQL raw queries that use an entirely different syntax for all I know.

@SuperDicq @4censord @kitten I don't even know where to see the code. And honestly I don't care either.

@4censord @SuperDicq @kitten
In psql you need to first create a type of enum, and then reference that type in
create table, in my sql you set the field type to enum and put the possible values in parentheses.

@4censord @SuperDicq @kitten basically, MySQL enums are always unnamed and anonymous.

While the ones in psql are named (and thus can be reused)

@kura @SuperDicq @kitten oh i see
that actually sounds horrible because then i cant use that for validation in store procedures, and it will be very silly if i have many options

@4censord @kitten i am so used to PHP shit being mysql only that I'm suprised laravel even supports postgres

so PHP devs are just stuck in the past and choose to stick to mysql eventhough they could easily not??
