EU banking policy (-), trans things & deadnaming now that the payment receiver name verification thingy is live at my banks, i checked …

the "better" bank (@ glsbank@ruhr.social) flags the name from my dgti ID as correct (it is also the name shown when i send a transfer). but they also "correct" my initial to my deadname.
not great. not at all.

the worse bank (Sparkasse) also "corrects" my initial to the deadname. and flags the name from my dgti ID as incorrect. (at least that isn't "autocorrected")
but they don't handle the sender's name on transactions well either: using my deadname in the send field and adding my chosen name in the reference text. effectively choosing the worst option.

it seems this EU regulation and its implementation will cause a lot of trouble for trans people.
if you have (or had) your IBAN out there, and a last name somewhere alongside or easy to find, consider your deadname leaked by your bank — it only takes 26 tries (one per potential initial)

lighthearted, I know it's serious, I'm sorry, re: EU banking policy (-), trans things & deadnaming @kitten @xayomer from a purely technical standpoint you can still transfer money to accounts with any target name you want (as long as you ignore the big warning; also you are not entitled to get your money back if you typo the IBAN)
