here's a thing I've been thinking on though:

my initial idea to handle the available emoji images was going to be having all the available emojis in the badge storage, and through Bluetooth just send the name of the emoji that needs to be shown

however, I could make it more flexible if the app sent the emoji image through Bluetooth each time. but that'd probably take too long
