me, the idiot, took a photo and the lighting wasn't good so started thinking... how to solve this conundrum in future?!
what I need is a light, that I can move around easily, that I can power with battery, and that makes a good amount of light, in a consistent colour temperature I can set the camera to, and it'd be amazing if such a thing could be attached to the camera somehow... maybe to the hot shoe, and I need to turn it on before taking a photo and easily turn it off to save battery.
at this point I feel very clever, I've just invented a portable-light-for-taking-photos-clearly thingie.
then I start googling for parts, I've come this far I'm going to build this invention... and I find it!
it's called a camera flash. I am a total idiot. I invented something that most people who aren't even photographers could just immediately name.
