Spanish everyday stuff for those of you who don't have to suffer through it: the big thing right now in Spanish "politics" is how from this year they are mandating the ownership and use of this V-16 beacon in cars for when they have to stop in the road

Spanish everyday stuff @kitten why the heck do these things have gps, an app, and a sim card?? I thought it was meant to just be a flashing light to mark your car as a hazard

Spanish everyday stuff @olivvybee so they can report its location automatically to the transit authority servers, and do stuff like report the danger automatically to other drivers via LED road signs, or online maps, or whatever

re: Spanish everyday stuff @kitten @olivvybee just read up on it www.thecampervanbible.co.uk/post/spain-mandates-v-16-emergency-beacons

doesn't seem like a crazy thing, but yeah... imposing a requirement from a date is hard.

I imagine in the UK if we move to do this it will become part of an annual MOT test, and that way they'll avoid the protest at a change that happens on a single day

re: Spanish everyday stuff @dee @kitten considering the uk doesn't even mandate warning triangles or anything like that, I don't expect them to jump straight to something like this
