turns out: TGV duplex are awful for GPS

but yeah, this looks cool
map of my trip through Europe, from Barcelona to Vienna, passing through Geneve on the way there and through Paris on the way back, color-coded with the speed

@eudaimonia nono, the airtag doesn't track speed, and only updates every 15 min

one of the reasons why I know it's TGV duplex are the culprits for the bad GPS data is the fact that not even the tag could get a proper fix. no one's iPhone on a packed train could get proper location data, while they totally could on the AVE on my way there

@kitten amazing.

It's kinda 🤯 watching you and @rail@flufftech.net wandering around Europe so freely while public transit is so absolutely effed in the US that most people spend their entire lives never visiting anything beyond their state or the nearby bits of bordering ones.
