tempted to just answer "oh, ich spreche kein Deutsch" to people speaking to me in German just to see the reaction

@kitten To be honest, most of them will just switch to English immediately.
For some reason we always assume that everyone that can not speak German speaks English, and we switch to it at the smallest hint of a language barrier.

To the point that people have problem learning German, because nobody want to talk to them in it 🙃
