@kitten Countries don’t like to talk about the bad things they did, I guess, so little Franco?
My present home country excepted, but they do it so badly that 90% of Germans are incapable of acting normal around Jews and come off as super obsequious
Example: in the UK we learned about the roaring 20s in the US as context for the Wall Street crash, but ignored that Britain was already in recession for much of the 1920s (thanks in no small part to the economic policy of one Winston Churchill)
@dpk to be fair in the case of Spain it would be a bit underwhelming to explain.
"so, yeah, the rebels won, and during 35 years people got sent to work camps or sentenced to death if they dared challenging the regime. but like, no other country really cared about it so we were just kinda isolated and that's it. there were some guys wearing white hoods who kinda did try to do something about it, but they also did bad stuff and harmed people after the dictatorship ended, so we don't talk about that."
