all train operators should have a web portal where you just enter a train number and a date and you get real time data for that train

ÖBB does this well
even Eurostar does this well

DB doesn't do this well

Renfe doesn't do this well either, with the added fact that not even bahn.expert is an option

okay so you know what should be added to this?

being able to get
non-real-time data too

as in, be able to query how did a train in a past date do, get delay certificates, and stuff

@kitten There’s Zugfinder in Germany which has this, e.g. www.zugfinder.net/de/zug-ICE_945

In general, the results of knowing this are basically ‘it’s impossible to tell with any accuracy if your choice of train will cause you to miss your connection’

@dpk oh but I don't even need something that sophisticated, I just want proof of delay to attach to my Interrail delay compensation claims
