wait … continually renewing a first class ‘15 days within 2 months’ Interrail pass is cheaper than a BahnCard 100 second class (and the 15 days restriction is really not a problem). and of course it’s even less for a second class Interrail
if I lived nearer the border and could thus get to e.g. Belgium or France on my D-Ticket or an otherwise cheap regional ticket to save the two days of allowed domestic travel, this would be worryingly tempting
