Catalan historical politics the other day I missed the anniversary of the 8-second Catalan Republic of 2017

October 10th, 2017, 4 days after the official results of the referendum of independence, Carles Puigdemont addressed the Catalan Parliament to discuss the results, and said:
I assume the mandate of the people for Catalonia to become an independent state in the form of a republic
and just immediately he pulled the biggest bait and switch of history and said:
I ask Parliament to suspend the effects of the Declaration of Independence so that in the coming weeks we can undertake a dialogue

Catalan historical politics it did achieve something, though, and that was confusing the Spanish Government, whose president officially gave Puigdemont 5 days to clarify "what did he exactly do" and "whether he had declared independence or not"
