trans stuff making negative comments about cis people sometimes feels bad because the few that will actually read them are probably the ones to whom they are not directed

trans stuff @kitten And at the same time probably the only ones that will feel like you are talking about them and feel badโ€ฆ

The solution really is not to speak badly about people based on their membership in minority/majority groups, but based on their behavior.
That is in fact the line that separates true progressivism from performative membership in a political camp that is as exchangeable as a football club you are routing for.

I believe in fact that a widely underestimated amount of harmful hatred is the result of people hating properties that they somehow think of as proxys for the actual problems, rather than hating those problematic properties:

Think about people who have any form of (actual) negative experience with poor people, foreigners, uneducated people, you name itโ€ฆ

None of these properties make someone a bad person, but a person that has those properties can still be an asshole and we need to be willing to call out the asshole part of the behavior, without allowing anyone to guide to the innocent property instead.

Itโ€™s the โ€œI donโ€™t like ๐‘‹, because ๐‘Œ. You donโ€™t like ๐‘‹ because ๐‘. We are not the same!โ€ meme. Reasons matter. In some instances more than the actual opinion.

I mean, yes, but that's sometimes not achievable. like, if I say "I don't seek affection with cis people anymore because it's just too risky"... it's just how it is. like, it's not "speaking badly" per se, but can still make people feel bad
