both Christmas and birthdays are the things I feel the most fake in social interaction
like, okay, it's true that for starters I don't care about my birthday, but we've not talked in the whole year, why are you calling me to wish me a happy birthday?
@kitten I've stopped the happy birthday and merry Christmas wishes quite a while ago for people where I'm not close and it was just an obligation anymore because we were "family". Especially because with some I don't get along for important reasons.
But also I'm a person who doesn't care much about birthdays/holidays and told people to never call on my birthday because I don't like it and it's just a normal day and I don't want anything happening there. (I still sometimes get letters or something but no calls now)
@kitten i wish it if i want to make someone a bit more happy but i don't do it if it is only because they expect it. the same with gifts. (also i tend to not wait for a birthday to gift someone something, i just do it and if i have on the birthday nothing i want to gift i just don't do it.)
emotional abuse, I guess?@kitten (read following quote from perspective of any of my family members) "But Ava they are family"; yeah I am personally done with being taken hostage emotionally. I get to do what I want now.
