there's a lot of "drama" associated to these kind of events and in a way it's legitimate, issues and mistakes should be pointed out and discussed (and some are less excusable)

but I also see some general negativity and cynicism that just... feels plain unhealthy, and not really constructive

there were fuck-ups at WHY. responsibilities should be taken and it should be prevented in the future. but still, I loved the event, I had a super nice time, and I'm super happy to have decided to come here.

I saw and heard some similar stuff regarding the FLINTA cruising from last weekend, and I feel exactly the same, with the difference that in there I can't even think of any actual issues (also, in that case it was sometimes coated in a layer of slutshaming that some people should really work on).

with "I feel exactly the same" I was referring to "I loved the event, I had a super nice time, and I'm super happy to have decided to come here". as I said, I didn't notice any issues.

@kitten there’s always gonna be some drama at any event organized, no matter what or where. Not going to an event because <insert dramatic reason> will just result in missing out on an event that’s probably incredibly fun regardless. Valid criticism is a good thing, like you say. But nitpicking shouldn’t be blown up too much. I had my nitpicks but had an amazing (and very gay) time regardless. My main issue was with myself because I just was too exhausted, in all honesty, but still made it through and had fun!
And with the FLINTA cruising, the issues that did come up (as far as I’ve heard) did not impact my experience. And the organizing party did their absolute best in that regard 💜

@kitten would rate as lukewarm take tbh ^~^

the drama was mostly due to various team members venting, especially those that were negatively affected by decisions in a way that incurred disruption to timelines or their ability to operate, which, although is uncohesive, can be understandable in this one's opinion.

we will see what responsibility is taken, this one wouldn't be surprised if a significant amount of the drama gets swept under the rug, because "it all worked out in the end" (on the backs of certain creatures/teams, some of whom will have sadly burnt out).

re: FLINTA cruising, this one agrees with your assessment.

@lis yes. and you know, that is kind of an understandable feeling, at least in an "empathizing" way. but then maybe that's what people should express, "I don't like people enjoying themselves without me", or "I can't go to this thing and that makes me upset and try to find a reason to not want to go" at least are feelings one can start working with
